Apr. 19th, 2009 11:36 amYesterday was glorious. One of those days that people say "Just wait till spring and summer and you will never want to live anywhere else" kind of days. And it really was. I have tons of pictures, but until i get my monitor (the one I'm on now is old and dark, I can't fix the tone and contrast of the photos), I can't post the pics.
Anyway, we went to Volunteer Park on Capitol Hill. They also had a greenhouse with orchids and ferns and cactus! I do miss cactus. Lots of pictures of that. Also the cherry blossoms were in bloom as well as many other flowers and i took some pictures of some huge trees.
Next to the park was a cemetery. I can't remember the name of it, but I decided to wander in and see what was in it. Well, I'm guessing it was the oldest in the city, as many of the names on the stones were names of streets and places here, like Phienny and Denny, and it reflected in the fact that areas were pretty opulent. There was also a grave for the daughter of Chief Seattle! There were also some really neat and original headstones, as well as one of a women who was apparently murdered by her husband and her family was really angry about. Again, i have pictures. BTW...it was no surprise to see that Bruce and Brandon Lee had beautiful stones in the part of the cemetery with the best view of the mountains and surrounding areas.
So, Morgan and I had no idea they closed the cemetery at 6, so as we were wandering out, we noticed the gates were closed and there was no way to get out unless we called a number or hopped a fence. So, we hopped the fence! I don't think I've done that since i was 8! It was funny, though he hurt his hand pretty badly on the top of one of the fence ties.
It was a nice day, worth playing hooky from work for.
